Bosc: Crisp, spicy and honey sweet. Bosc Pears do not change color as they ripen and like all pears ripen from the inside out. Ripe when slightly soft near the stem. Very versatile. Try baked, broiled, poached, in pies, sauces or just eat out-of-hand. Pair with 3-Year Aged Cheddar, Cabernet Sauvignon or Barbera.
D'Anjou: Refreshingly sweet and juicy with a hint of citrus flavor. Ripe when slightly soft near the stem. Excellent for eating out=of-hand, in salads, baking and poaching. Pair with Baby Swiss. Brie or a soft mild Goat Cheese, Pinot Grigio and Sparkling Wine.
