In 1942 Frank Brennan opened a fruit stand in Monroe, Wisconsin. In the beginning, Frank purchased fruit from various locations, but he always found that he got the best results when he personally visited and selected his fruit. As a result of his experience, he formed the underlying philosophy at Brennan’s: We Buy Direct So You Buy the Best.
Today, his son, Skip Brennan, carries on that tradition along with the Brennan’s produce buying team. They search the world for the best produce and nurture long-lasting relationships with top growers like Jim and John Symms who grow the best peaches in Idaho, and we think the country, or Kyle Stemilt, famous for his mountain cherries and crisp, delicious Washington Apples. Jon Grunseth, a Minnesota native, grows the biggest and juiciest Bing Cherries in Tasmania (available around Valentine’s Day).
Whether we’re bringing in a shipment of Door County Cherries or a shipment of Tasmanian Cherries, we want to make sure our produce is the freshest around. We receive shipments daily by truck and even by plane! Our Maui Gold Hawaiian Pineapple are flown fresh from the fields in Hawaii direct to General Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee and then rushed to each of our stores. It doesn’t get much fresher than that!
Stop in and see. There’s always some thing fresh and new in our produce departments!
